Ministry of Defense and NATO Force Integration Units

The challenge to protect Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Bulgaria and NATO Force Integration Units (NFIUs)

Overview An IRIS addressable fire system with devices from Teletek Electronics has been chosen to protect the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Bulgaria and NATO Force Integration Units (NFIUs) Headquarters in Sofia, Bulgaria. The massive building ( 9000 sq.m) is popular as the Bulgarian Pentagon and accommodate also the headquarters of the Infantry, the Air Force, and the Military Police.

Challenge The project was to upgrade the building’s fire detection system which included totally rewiring the system – had to be undertaken while the building was fully occupied and without causing any disruption to the work of the Ministry.

Solution The new fire detection system provides comprehensive protection over all ten floors of the Ministry’s headquarters and comprises 9 addressable fire panels in a network with approximately 3500 devices monitored by Teletek Electronics software Observer. The also interfaces with critical equipment 9 evacuation exits, 6 lifts, air conditioning, all electrical panels and access control system. It was handed over to the client with full Civil Defense approval.

The project was completed in 2017 and has been submitted with the full approval of the Civil Protection and Fire Services.
