How to reset User 1 code to the default “0000” ?

In ENGINEER mode, go to address 0032, input from keypad 1 2 3 4 5 6 and press button ENTER .

How to turn on/off “chime” sound on keypads for Entry/Exit zone ?

ECLIPSE 8:  In MANAGER menu, go to address 03 and press button “0” to change this option. This setting is global and will affect all keypads in the system.

ECLIPSE 16/32: In ENGINEER mode, go to address 80x2, where “X” is the keypad that will be affected by this change.  Press button “1” to change this option and confirm by button ENTER .

How to read/find out a user code ?

The user codes are hidden and cannot be visualized. Although you can delete or change them.

How to delete a user code ?

In MANAGER mode, go to address 01, input the user number. Press and hold button “0”, until you get keypad sound and visual (LCD: “_ _ _ _” or LED: blinking LEDs of zones 1 to 4) confirmation.

How to change user code ?

In MANAGER mode, go to address 01, input the user number. Input the user code and if a code is already present you can delete it by press and hold button “0” and then enter a new code. Confirm the changes by button ENTER .

How to add Proxy card ?

In MANAGER mode, go to address 11, input the user number and present a card to the Proxy reader. If the card was read successfully you will hear a confirmation sound and card’s ID will be displayed (on LCD keypad) or zones 1-8 will turn on (on LED keypad). Confirm by button ENTER .

How to connect a fire detector to an ECLIPSE system ?

1.  wire line – fire detector with relay base

Connect power to AUX +/- and the relay outputs to COM and zone that is programmed as "FIRE". Depending on the selected connection diagram add an appropriate zone resistor. The other zone’s settings are on address 20xx.

2. wire line – fire detector base without relay (Eclipse 32 only)

Connect the detector to PGM4. On address 3000 set value 1 and PGM4 is now logical Zone 99. Select a logical zone from 9 to 32 and program it as "FIRE”. Then attach this zone it to the logical Zone 99. The EOL resistor in the detector should be 2 kohm.

Example for fire detector to Zone 9:

On address 2090 set device [01] with input [99].

On address 2091 set [4] – zone type “FIRE”.

How to check if the zone is properly balanced ?

Depending on the selected connection diagram on address 2000 you can check the resistance for each zone on address 20X9, where “X” is zone number. On Eclipse 8 you can perform only “Walk test” at address 0020.

How to add a „service keypad“ to an ECLIPSE system ?

Connect the new keypad to Eclipse control panel (on the BUS or on the specialized terminal) and press button PROG . Now you can use this keypad in ENGINEER and MAINTENANCE modes.

How to add a new module (LCD/LED, Proxy, PEXP/ZEXP/WEXP) to an ECLIPSE system?
  1. turn off the power (main 220V and battery) on the control panel
  2. connect the new device to the BUS terminals of the control panel
  3. turn on the power of the control panel and wait for system initialization
  4. enter in ENGINEER mode
  5. choose a free address 80x0, for example:

 8030>DEV3 ID

 [Free] [_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _]

  1. press the TAMPER switch of the new device. For ZONE and PGM expanders the TAMPER is located between the extender’s terminals
  2. upon successful completion of the registration, the screen of the working keypad will display the newly recorded device type (LCD/LED, PRX, PEXP/ZEXP/WEXP) and its unique ID number. Example:

 8030>DEV3 ID

 [ZEXP] [21696983]

  1. confirm by pressing ENTER
How long the ECLIPSE BUS line (cable) can be?

Up to 1 000m –  it might be necessary to use additional power supply  to ensure 12 V DC

Is there compatibility between Eclipse control panels and modules ?

Yes, each Eclipse control panel model is compatible with the rest of the modules

What modules can be added to an ECLIPSE system ?

Calculation of the Battery Capacity for Fire Alarm Panel IRIS

The right planning of every fire alarm system has a great importance for its future reliable operation.

A few important steps are necessary for the correct planning of the installation:

- Choosing the most appropriate fire alarm equipment according the installation project;

- Correct calculation of the length and the cross-section of the used cables;

- Choosing an accumulator battery with enough capacity for providing of backup power supply in case of mains power supply failure. Thus, the operation of the fire alarm system is guaranteed for certain time period in standby or fire alarm mode.

The present application is developed by Teletek Electronics JSC to help the constructors and designers of fire alarm systems for right defining the accumulator battery capacity used in the addressable fire alarm panels IRIS.

This calculator allows quick and easy calculation of the minimal battery capacity, according the number of used devices in the fire alarm system and activated inputs and outputs of the control panel.

With this application you also can calculate the battery capacity needed for supporting the operation of the system during mains power supply failure and fire alarm situation in one or several zones.

How to work with the calculator

1. Press the “Start” button – in the input data fields are set values by default automatically.

2. Enter the number of the used loops – 1 to 4.

3. Enter the number of the used devices:

- Enter in the “Standby mode” column the number all devices connected from Loop 1 to Loop 4.

- Enter in the “FIRE mode” column the number of activated devices in case of fire alarm mode.

4. Enter the number of activated zones in fire alarm mode.

5. Enter if necessary the values for activated inputs and outputs, as refer to the noted limits.

6. If necessary change the set by default hours for operation of the panel in standby mode (according EN54-14:2006 for a min. time from 30 to 72 hours) and fire alarm mode (according EN54-14:2006 - min. a half an hour).

7. Press the “Calculate” button.

ATTENTION:

The calculator is designed for calculating the battery capacity for fire alarm panels IRIS with TTE loops only!

IMPORTANT NOTE!

The calculated value for the battery capacity is a minimum. This means, that for the current fire installation the constructor must use a battery with close in value but higher capacity – it is strongly recommended the calculated battery capacity to be increased with 25%, so to guarantee a reserve charge with reducing the battery capacity as a result of aging. For example, if the calculated battery capacity is 30.3Ah, then it is recommended to use a battery with capacity of 38Ah.

Can the sensitivity of smoke detectors be tested with cigarette smoke?Back

Examination with cigarette smoke is not a suitable or accurate method to determine the sensitivity of fire alarm detectors. Special laboratory tunnels, which go through regular calibration, are used for this purpose. The tunnel regulates very accurately the amount of smoke and the rate of temperature rise, so that there are equal and stable conditions for the test of different detectors. On the basis of these tests and the EN54 standard which regulates detector sensitivity, a certificate is issued that confirms the appropriate work of the detector.

Comparing the sensitivity of fire detectors with cigarette smoke is inappropriate because:

1. In order for an accurate comparison to be made, we need to be sure there is equal amount of smoke particles in the air. This is impossible to be done by exhaling cigarette smoke, because the smoke chamber of one of the detector might be filled with more particles. The spreading of smoke particles in the air depends on the direction of exhaling, the force of exhaling, air currents, surrounding temperature and the position of the detectors. The inability for these parameters to be controlled outside of a laboratory makes it impossible for analysis to be made. One of the detectors may react earlier, but this is not a definite sign of higher sensitivity.

2. Even if the amount of particles in two different detectors happen to be the same, it is possible for them to react differently. This depends on the processing algorithm. For example SensoIris detectors by Teletek Electronics react if 4 consecutive measurements show smoke particles above the norm. Measurements are made every 4 seconds. If another detector has sample time more than 4 seconds or needs more than 4 measurements it will react later. The faster reaction with equal smoke particles means that it is more precise, not more sensitive.

Procedure for cleaning SensoMAG detectors

In order to clean up the detector you have to remove the plastic cover and the other plastic parts.

Please follow the steps illustrated by the pictures:

1.First you have to remove the PCB from the base. That has to be done after pulling out the plastic trotter and slightly pulling the PCB up.

2.The removed PCB has to be disassembled with a screwdriver.

BE CAREFUL WITH THE SIDE PLASTIC HOLDERS.

3.Then you have to clean the entire chamber with compressed air.

4.First you have to blow the internal part. And then the external part.

5. Then clean the assembled PCB

6.Finally you also have to blow the outside part – plastic cover.

7.After all these procedures, you have to start assembling in the reverse order.

Procedure for cleaning SensoIRIS series detectors

In order to clean up SensoIRIS detectors you have to remove the plastic cover and the other plastic parts.

Please follow the steps illustrated by the pictures:

1. First you need to remove the PCB cover. That is done by freeing the 4 clamps with a screwdriver.

2. Next you have to remove the PCB from the base. That is done by pulling out the plastic trotter and slightly pulling the PCB up.

3. The removed PCB has to be disassembled with a screwdriver. BE CAREFUL WITH THE PLASTIC SIDE HOLDERS.

4. Then you need to clean the entire chamber with compressed air.

5. First you have to clean the internal part and then the external part of the chamber. Afterwards clean the PCB as well.]

6. Finally you also have to clean the plastic cover of the detector.

After all these procedures, you need to start assembling in the reverse order.

Possible reasons for General Fault in MAG 8plus?

If the General Fault LED is on (first photo) please check the following:

1. Check if another LED is on or blinking to find out the specifics of the fault. This can be done by opening the front panel’s door and observing the LEDs on the main PCB (second photo).

2. You can have a Micro-Processor fault. This means that the main processor of the panel is out of order. A possible reason can be an over voltage or lightning.

3. You can have sounder fault if the Sounder Fault/Disable LED is blinking. You will see the exact Sounder’s LED number on. The possible reason is missing resistor, wrong resistor value or short circuit. The sounders are using a single resistor with value of 10kOhms.

4. You can have an Earth fault. This means either short between Positive or negative wires and GND or tracks from the PCB are shorted (which means external intervention or factory damaged PCB). Try putting on/off the Disable EF jumper.

5. You can have AUX fault. This means either overloading or shortening or malfunctioning of the AUX output. Try disconnecting the entire load from the output or check for short circuit.

6. You can have RPT fault which means that there is a missing Repeater panel. Check the wires for the repeater for short or break.

7. You can have an AC fault. This means either that there is no power in the power network or broken power supply. If there is a power Measure the voltage of the power terminals and observe the LED of the power supply – it has to be RED.

You can have Batt Lost/Low. This means either the battery is not attached or it has a low voltage. Check if there is a battery or replace it if it is too old.

IRIS/SIMPO TTE Loop Calculator

Installing a fire alarm system in big business, public or trade offices is an important clause for the contractors and for legalizing officially the building sites. The properly selected and mounted fire detectors, devices and sirens can save people’s life and also protect expensive equipment from fatal damage.

The electronic calculator IRIS/SIMPO TTE loop is a useful tool for calculating of:

  • the number of addressed SensoIRIS devices;
  • the total consumption in the loop;
  • the length of the loop;
  • the optimum cross-section of the used cable.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• For proper calculations it has to be considered that the total number of the used remote indicators FRL in the system should be less or equal to the number of the used addressable detectors.

• The devices with extension “IS” in the name are devices with used built-in isolator module. That concerns the SensoIRIS addressable modules and call points in the system. For example, if you use the addressable call points without the built-in isolator, you should enter their number in the MCP150 field; if you use the built-in isolator in the call point, you have to enter their number in the MCP150 IS field.

The devices which are not used in the particular system must be introduced with "0" – you can use the “X” button to introduce “0” for all devices.

Can ARGUS GSM module be used with MAG series conventional alarm panels?

Argus GSM module is a universal device. It can be used with any device which provides a relay contact as an output signal.

This includes Intrusion panels, Fire panels, Access Control Systems or any other.

MAG panels have relays so ARGUS can transmit fire and fault signals.

Does the products of Teletek Electronics meet the requirements of the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR)?

The Construction Products Directive (CPD) (Council Directive 89/106/EEC) is replaced by the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) as of 1st July 2013.

Teletek Electronics’ fire detection and alarm products currently sold on the market already have CE mark affixed in accordance with Directive 89/106/EEC (CPD) and related EN 54 standards. Testing and assessment have been done by independent third-party, a Notified Body, and proven by a certificate of conformity. Therefore, Teletek Electronics’ fire detection and alarm products are deemed to comply with the new Construction Products Regulation (CPR). According to the CPR Teletek Electronics JSC is issued all needed Declaration of Performance (DoP), needed to deliver information about the essential characteristics of each product.
