Teletek Career Growth Stories: Nikolay Kostov

From Service Engineer to Head of Production Technologies: A 19-Year Journey at Teletek

When he stepped through the doors of Teletek for the first time in September 2006, Nikolay didn’t yet know that the next 19 years would shape not only his career, but also his understanding of leadership, teamwork, and continuous growth.

The Beginning: A First Day Full of Curiosity

Nikolay’s career at Teletek began in 2006 as a Service Engineer, working with electronic modules. That first day brought excitement mixed with a touch of nervous anticipation. The technologies around him were new, the environment unfamiliar, but the mindset came naturally: “There’s a lot to learn here!”

What he didn’t know then was that this simple thought would become a guiding principle throughout his entire journey.

Why Teletek? A Mix of Fate and Passion

Looking back, Nikolay shares that joining Teletek felt like the meeting point of professional interest and good timing

“I’ve always been interested in electronics and manufacturing technologies, and the opportunity at Teletek came at exactly the right moment.”

It was curiosity – and the desire to learn continuously, that brought him here. It’s the same curiosity that still drives him today.

The First Turning Point

About a year into his role, a new challenge appeared: the chance to transition into a Process Engineer position.

This meant stepping into a much more complex and strategic domain – configuring production equipment, working with protective coatings, wave soldering, analyzing process defects, and improving depanelization.

“That was the moment I realized I could not only maintain equipment, but actually create and optimize entire production processes.”

It was a defining shift – from supporting workflow to shaping it.

The Biggest Challenge - and What It Taught Him

As Nikolay’s responsibilities grew, so did the challenges. One of the biggest was aligning Teletek’s production processes with strict quality standards (IPC, ISO 9001) while still maintaining efficiency.

“Bringing production processes to a level that blends high quality with efficiency was a real challenge.”

Overcoming it required resilience, thoughtful analysis, and strong collaboration.

“I overcame it through persistence, analysis, and most importantly, teamwork.”

Through this, he advanced from engineer to department leader, building not only stronger processes but also stronger teams.

A Journey Defined by Growth

Nikoaly describes his career as “a climb” – rising from Service Engineer to Process Engineer and ultimately Head of Production Technologies in 2025. Every step brought new learning, challenges, and progress.

What has kept him at Teletek for nearly two decades is simple: the people. As he puts it:
“Projects evolve, technologies change, but the true value comes from the team.”

Along the way, he discovered how to balance technical expertise with leadership and learned the importance of leading by example. And through it all, one principle guided him:
#ContinuousImprovement – a mindset he applies to both technology and personal growth.

So how would Nikolay finish the sentence “Working at Teletek is…”?

“…a challenge that teaches you to grow – as a specialist, as a leader, and as a person.”
